Federation University Australia (FedUni) is a public university formed when the former University of Ballarat (founded in 1870) and the Gippsland Campus of Monash University were amalgamated in 2014. It is the only regional public university in Victoria offering higher education, vocational and technical training programs and major scientific research society.

 

Brief Bio:

With Bachelor of Computing (First-class Honours), PhD in Information Technology (IT) from the Faculty of IT, Monash University and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Higher Education Development Unit, Monash University, Shyh Wei Teng previously was a senior lecturer at the Gippsland School of IT, Monash University. He is currently an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of School of Engineering and IT, Faculty of Science and Technology, Federation University Australia. His research interest includes image processing, machine learning and bioinformatics. He also received a prestigious Australian Research Council (ARC) discovery project grant in 2013. He regularly serves on the reviewer boards of a number of top international journals (e.g. Pattern Recognition and Neurocomputing) and as a program member for several international conferences (e.g. IEEE CEC and ICME).
